I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25)
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6)

Some see eternal life, or salvation as a gift detached from the giver. Here we see that eternal life is not a thing, but a person. Jesus is the life, Jesus is the only way to the Father, source of life and he and the Father are one. There is no salvation detached from the person of Christ. Eternal life is a gift from God " 'in' Christ Jesus our Lord". If we are not in Christ then there is no salvation.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23)
